That way a newcomer doesnt have to think about that and ultimately speeds things up. Remove a lot of the player interaction that minimally existed such as guarding etc. For it to survive and appeal to non card players, it has to be simple. Maybe pull people for nostalgia sake, but it's a mobile game and its simplified game mechanics make this pretty apparent. Sure it may work and pull other people in who cant, but it's also a lot of money and a big risk since it went poorly once.Ĭardfight zero was made assumingly with the intention to get newcomers into this game. It's also clearly not in their interest to capture a market they already own.
Nobody is going to put in this much effort to code this in for basically nothing. This means not only so you have to program all these skills, but you have to know the rules pretty extensively. Not to mention each way various zones and hand and everything else also work in accordance to the rules and program all these rules in to properly play the game and not do incorrect things. You would need to factor in how all of these cards work, how they interact, and how skill resolutions resolve. Now do it for a game where new cards are revealed and released 5 out of 7 times a week.Īlso keep in mind this is only singular card effects. Imagine how all these zones and cards and spaces interact. Or variations with different moving parts in those skills.
It'd be nice if someone in the community made something like YGOPro/DevPro for Vanguard, but creating something like that takes countless hours, and its hard for someone to give up that much time for almost nothing in returnĪlright think about how many cards there are in this game. The economy that they had in the beta was really bad, and the games took forever (30+ minutes for one game). Also, I played a good 20-40 hours in the beta and it worked fine, but had a lot of issues that needed to be fixed. I check card prices every now and again, and the prices seem like they're constantly going down, which makes it seem like the game isn't doing well physically. I feel like Bushiroad needs to make sure their physical card game does well before even thinking about making an online client and it seems to only be doing really well in Japan as opposed to NA/EU. I also don't really play nowadays because I don't really enjoy using CFA and don't really have the time to go to locals anymore, but I understand why Bushiroad can't/won't make a good online game. The online TCG/CCG market is extremely competitive with Hearthstone / Magic the Gathering : Arena / Artifact / Shadowverse / Eternal all being popular and i'm not sure if there's a place for Vanguard to do well in that market currently. I think it's a big risk for Bushiroad to make something like Vanguard Online at the moment and they would never allow a third party to profit off of making something like Vanguard Online.
